About the UCI Law Start-up and Small Business Clinic (SSBC)

UCI Law established SSBC in 2018 to provide law students with the opportunity to gain real-life experience in practicing business and transactional law. Law students acting as SSBC Associates serve local entrepreneurs and business owners by helping them navigate the legal complexities of the start-up and small business world.

The SSBC is overseen by Professor Daniel J. Alexander II. Alexander is a graduate of Howard University, where he received his B.A. in international relations, and of the UCLA School of Law, where he received his J.D. Prior to becoming the Director of the SSBC in 2018, Alexander was a longtime member of UCI Law’s Dean’s Advisory Board and taught Applied Lawyering and Law Firm Management as a lecturer.
